A Short Biography

Howard Moskowitz servers as President of Moskowitz Jacobs Inc. (also known as MJI Design Labs) and Chairman of iNovum, a consulting firm for Mind Genomics.

Well versed in the fields of experimental psychology and psychophysics (the study of perception and its relation to physical stimuli), Dr. Moskowitz has enjoyed a prolific career fueled by his inventing world-class market research technology and producing numerous written works on academic, scientific and commercial subjects.

Since graduating Harvard University in 1969 with a Ph.D. in experimental psychology, Dr. Howard Moskowitz has written and edited 27 books and published more than 400 articles. He has spoken widely at both scientific and market research conferences and guest-lectured at leading business schools including Wharton, Harvard, Yale and the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Moskowitz also serves on the editorial board of major journals and mentors students world-wide. In 1972, Dr. Moskowitz founded the journal Chemical Senses, the first journal dealing exclusively with taste and smell.
Dr. Howard Moskowitz has earned widespread acclaim and recognition for his work in science and business. Prior, he graduated Queens College (New York), Phi Beta Kappa, with degrees in mathematics and psychology.

  • Winner of Sigma Xi’s exceptionally prestigious Walter Chubb Award for innovation in research across scientific disciplines, a unique honor showing the value of Mind Genomics (“the science of everyday life”), the new field of knowledge he founded
Among his contributions to market research is his 1975 introduction of psychophysical scaling and product optimization for consumer product development. In the 1980’s his contributions were extended to health and beauty aids. In the 1990’s the concept development approach was introduced to pharmaceutical research. His research / technology developments have led to concept and package optimization (IdeaMap®, MessageMap® for pharma), integrated and accelerated development (DesignLab®), and the globalization and democratization of concept development for small and large companies through an affordable, transaction-oriented approach (IdeaMap.Net®).

In 2009 Moskowitz co-founded iNovum to bring his science of Mind Genomics and Addressable Minds to world industries. iNovum’s goal is to commercialize the award- winning science, to re-ignite the American Dream, to export that dream around the world, and at the same to improve the education and life prospects of young people of the next generation.

In more recent years, Moskowitz’s efforts have been focused on the humanitarian use of his technology, and especially Mind Genomics. In mid-April, 2012, Democratic Republic of Niger announced that it was opening up NICE (Niger Institute for Competitive Excellence), using Mind Genomics as the basis of new education programs to make Niger’s people, its human capital, more competitive in the world.

At the same time, the International Center for Cooperation & Conflict Resolution at Columbia University in New York began efforts to use Mind Genomics as a way to understand the specific issues and messaging needed to resolve inter-country conflicts. Their first project involves the Palestine-Israeli issue, with new insights and promising results emerging at the time of this writing (May, 2012).
